I realize soldbuchs attributed to Volkssturm men are fairly rare, but if any of you out there have any in your collections, I would very much appreciate a private message from you. If we could arrange it I would like some information that may be found within. We can go into more detail when you contact me. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi William, try going to the top sticky post started by me and get into that militaria site and post the question there. It would be answered easier there as I know a few who are members do collect these things.

    Best regards-C.

Got a message back from the seller, and it is supposed to be a bring back. Now, I just need to win the auction

Hmmm...had a closer look, mint condition, unfilled? Looks a bit too good to be true? Have you asked whether its a repro?

If not, you've got yourself a unique find mate.

Yeppir, sent a few questions to him. Of course, he may not be telling the truth, but, it was a vet bring back he got with a "ton" of other things from an estate sale. He listed other things he acquired at the same time, so it sounds on the up and up. At least so the fellow tells me.

It's a repop. Too many too goods to be true and for such a low price as well.

I dunno there Carl. Yes, it does seem too good to be true, but his answers to my questions seemed on the up and up, and he has a few more items listed from this same estate.

Of course, it would be better if I could see and touch the real thing (insert your own joke here :D ), but from what the fellow has told me I'm inclined to think it is the real thing.

Martin, i'm just as cynacle (SP?) as Sergeant J.J.Septon in the movie: "Stalag 17." ;)

William, just remember, if it's too good to be true--it usually it is. ~~OR~~ Let the buyer beware.

Also, some ebay dealers are nothing but professional liars as well. I look at them like they are all used car dealers--if you know what I mean?

Mr Evans, I believe father christmas is also a fake but I'm not about to tell the kiddies :D

As long as Will is happy, then I'm peachy.

Tis the season of goodwill despite the used car salesman!! I got my first decent wehrpass the other day, a guy who got a silver wound + ek2 in Belgium.

I hear you Carl, believe me. The guys answers to my questions were too right.

But, let's say it is a repop. At that price, it is still a bargain-I know of only 1 person besides myself that have made repop VSM soldbuecher. Most repops are for Heer, SS, Luft. etc, so even in a worst case scenerio and it is a repop, I'll still be fairly happy with it. Not as happy as if it was an original of course, but...

Time will tell here. If I get it, I'll let y'all know the outcome.

Take care all, and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Absolutely right, William - if you're happy with your purchase & don't feel ripped off, that's OK.

Let's hope the bidding doesn't go crazy - just over a day to go and price is still reasonable....

Well, with about 10 hours or so to go, ebay pulled the auction of the Soldbuch. Here is a portion of their stock message they sent:

    "Please be aware that auction:

    2211472791 - Deutscher Volkssturm - Soldbuch RARE

in which you were a bidding participant, has been ended early by eBay for
violating one or more of our listing guidelines."

It got pulled because the Swastika was showing. On the other items the guy had listed, the Swastika was covered. I was winning, too.

I emailed the seller directly to see if he'd be willing to sell it to me outright.

I'll let y'all know what happens.

Hi William, I guess if you don't care if it is a repop, then more power to you. I don't have to hope you will like it but KNOW you will. ;)

Hello BWDS, roger that buddy, roger that.

William, the thing that bothers me is that from what you have posted so far is that this guy is not saying it is a repo when he should ((if )) in fact it is. What gets me is that the seller is leaving no room to admit it is not a repop. If he admitted to it, I would then feel a bit better about it. ;)

The most important thing is that what ever the deal is--your the one who is happy about it.

Well, the seller was willing to sell the book directly to me. For more than I was willing to spend.

Oh well, for that price I'll save my money for one that is filled in.

Anyway, the refrigerator at home broke, so I reckon I'll spend the money on it instead.
