I am a Hungarian musician and we played in Belgium. After the saturday show I rented a car and travelled to Bastogne, since I have a passion for that historical event...
So I just visited Bastogne on January the 9th/10th on the day when they announced that Winters passed away... Strange... I was in the Bois Jacques foxholes in Bastogne that foggy morning when it happened... It was a Tuesday, nobody, non a single person, just me and my brother were there, the monument, the foxholes, the forest was in the fog, very mystical... I almost could hear the fallen souls

    Excellent photos !!

You made this visit at the perfect time. I'm sure it gave you a feeling of what the conditions were that these brave souls indured.

It was really mysterious. It wasn't a tourist season, the whole sight was dead. Non a sole on the roads, the woods, even the monument sight. The forest was dangerously silent, you could touch it. I hoped it won't be raining and I find some snow, but this snow, the cold, the ghost fog was just perfect to understand something that a summer tourist wouldn't be able to feel. To be honest, I was scared a little. I mean not scared but It was very bizarre. The big filed between the woods is the exact place where the E Company ran down Foy, and Norman Dike gone crazy...
I shot lots of HD footage in the woods. I will publish it, just I have to edit firs.
