I've heard from various resources that there was a planned motorway from Berlin to Moscow. I never really thought it was started due to the struggles of the war, but I recently came across a Deutsche Wochenschau video showing the liberation of Minsk in 1944 that had some camera footage of the motorway, so apparently they built it at least halfway to Moscow.

Anyone have any information on this motorway?
How long did it take to build?
How did they find the resources to build it?
How was it used during the war?

Cannot say if there was a plan to make a better road to be able to supply the front, but as I recall Hitler wanted to make Leningrad a parking lot, and a lake where Moscow is. I think Hitler did not like those cities..... So the road would not have been for the people to see the city views but maybe fishing...

Those are things I have put here in the Forums from different memoirs and reports. It might be Hitler never meant it other than a joke but that is another question.

For instance in 1942 when Mannerheim was visiting Hitler in his hq, Hitler said that Leningrad will be turned into a car park unless the Finns have some other plans for the city.
