Harry Humphries, founder adjutant of 617 Squadron, has died at the age of 92.

He was personally chosen by Guy Gibson to be the adjutant of 617 and played a vital role in the administration of the Squadron, without which the Raid would literally not have 'got off the ground'. He remained with 617 until 1945, serving under Gibson, Cheshire and Tait.

In 2003 he published his book, 'Living With Heroes - The Dam Busters' which gives many of his views and recollections of 617s personalities.
