Holy crap, we just need to get out of that craphole. And the media needs to shut its effin' typewriters off and not publish garbage that's going to just get folks killed. I'd be rather surprised if that "pile of rubbish" had contained Korans on purpose, or were the only "holy book" in the pile.

 

I am not a big fan of media, but we cannot live with censorship of the truth however unpleasant or embaressing it may be. Somebody, somewhere scewed up big time and we are paying the price for that foul-up.

 

I think people have to realize that these roving bands of lunatics are fanatics sent out by their leaders to create the perception that Muslims are enraged over this. Most, while offended, not so enraged that they are going to tear up tombstones or kill other people.

Islamicists are great at hooting and hollering, but when it comes to fighting they are terrible. This is really the only way they can resist.

 

Just another day in the 'Arab Spring', though one filled with cruel irony, as the UK helped to bring this scum to power. Let's hope Syria is spared the experiance.

 

I dont even want to get started on this topic. I dont believe that it is only Islamic extremist causing all this. Usually when I see photos of these insane protest, I see EVERYDAY people. Accidental Koran burning, and there goes the neighorhood. Lets kill US soldiers. I am wondering, what happens to ALL the millions if not billions of Korans printed at the hands of Muslims. Do they all get a burial? Just how do the Muslims dispose of old Korans. If one burns in a house fire, do they kill the house owners? What about the buring of our flag, churches, bibles, killing of Christians, destruction of other religion atificats

I am so sick and tired of losing soldiers (of all nations) and US treasure, for what. So our President has to appologize. So we have to be on our tip toes, while the Muslim world does what it pleases. The intolerance of Islam is pure evil and barbaric. I believe just about everyone in US has simliar feelings about this. But our politicians are too politicaly correct and that is dangerous. There is NO WAY Afgan. and Iraq will be the way some thought it would be. Our job in afgah. was over many years ago when Taliben was "destroyed". There was no way we could have won the idealogical war. And with Bin dead, well it is over. Lets get the Hell out. I do not believe we need a "secure" Afgan. to stop the next 9/11. If you want to stop the next 9/11 STOP BEING POLITICALY CORRECT at the airports. Stop frisking my 18 month old daughter and my wife, and start profiling. These Muslim exteremist must be dying from laughter in those caves.

I'm not sayin the truth needs to be censored. Far from it, the media does way too much of that these days anyway. But the editors, the guys who decide what gets reported on the 6 o'clock news and what gets tossed...there's hundreds, thousands of stories that could have been told in the place of this one. Throw in a human-interest story, someone doing something to benefit society. Sure, the fundamentalist arsewipes will be pissed, simply because 50 Americans didn't die, but at least they're not going to blow a public place up because of it. And if the story needs to be published, then take the safeties off our troops' weapons. You want to declare jihad on us, in the name of Allah? Well, go for it. We'll let you ask Him if you did the right thing. In person.

I don't go kicking grave stones everytime I watch the news (I wouldn't even think about it, even it were my worst enemy) , because I respect the death and don't blame others for what one idiot once did.

I can only get to two conclusions, it's either the job of vandal kids or it's the job of people who think that this "heroic" act will bring them to their "paradise" in their future life.


THREAD MOVED TO THE STUMP (MASSIVE POLITICAL CONTENT)

 

First, this would get coverage in the Islamic media even if it did not in ours and there is absolutely nothing we could do about that. Second American and presumably other westerner's have suffered harrassment and death by angry muslim mobs from this matter. This is important because of the families back home. They have a right to know and understand why the people they love and are counting on to return to them do so in silver metal coffin with a flag on it instead of off the steps of a airliner with open arms.

The same argument was made about Abu Garaib prison, that the media sensationalized it and perhaps they did. The problem is that we can't fix a problem until we know what it is and if we choose to bury our heads into the sand we will simply keep repeating the same mistakes.

We are dealing with children, dangerous, heavily armed children, who for the most part still think its middle ages. The Islamic world hasn't offered humanity much of value since the crusades and they look upon the 'western world' which has both flourished and become vastly more powerfull then they with comtempt, envy and fear. Much like the struggle of Communisim vs Democratic free Enterprise, Fundemental Islam instictively understand that they cannot survive in any form of equal contest. They like the Communists cling to their idology with a death grip despite the fact that it keeps half of their people (women) in ignorant bondage and offerers up the other half as mindless connon fodder.

I realize that there are many bright, hardworking men and women of the islamic faith who have found a reasoable middle ground between their faith and the world as it truely is, but they don't live in middle east. Imagine a western world where the Roman Catholic Church could still call upon the Inquistion and all the other clap trap of the middle ages. We in the west moved past this and placed our religious beliefs in the proper place of our lives. The Islamic world as a whole has yet to do this, and until they do so, we will continue to have to deal with angry, petulant, homicidal children.

Their place in the world, near or on top of much of the oil or asride major lines of comerce force us to act as the adults in a tug of war of wills will squalling children who are upset that the world does not answer to its beck and call. Anyone who has stood in a checkout line behind a harried mother with a child thowing a temper tantrum because they can't have their favorite candy or because mommy didn't buy them that toy they wanted has been in the very same situation. The child isn't being reasonable or wise and will frequently do something stupid that only hurts themselves just acting out. It falls to the parent to act like an adult however messy and distastefull it may be.

I think its about time that the media exercise some restraint. Its been front page news on CNN (and by front page, I mean the picture to the left on top of all the other "top stories") for the past few days. Don't get me wrong -- I'm not for censorship, I'm for common sense.

 

The trouble is that there will always be some guy with a cell phone to film whatever is going on. There is no way military matters can be hidden as it was the case before. A bit of a shame in my opinion. Some years ago the guy would have been punished by his officer and basta. No-one would even have heard about it.

 

Our society can take credit for the production of these groups too and to be fair we need to draw some like conclusions about "US" don't we? Earlier in the postings the statement "THEY ATTACKED THE TWIN TOWERS" and this after talking about those ranting about the burning of the holy texts. My point, all societies have a large number of non-educated people making up a large segment of their population. If the rest of the world were to watch the Westboro group( or David Coresh, or the Jonestown group) and make across the board conclusions about "all of us" based on that amongst themselves they could also be making a sweeping statement about what "THEY" (which would be us) do. However I do not think the numbers would be supporting this as few of us would choose to attend our hero's military funerals to make some obtuse protest. How ignorant it is to include "THEY" as a description of someone unless it is an attempt to stereotype and label a whole bunch of people for the actions of some people. In this case the real truth is obscured and the expressed truth is clearly the LIE of the statement. This is the lie of propaganda and ignorant expression.

In defense of ourselves, we have not done a good job educating our soldiers about other cultures and the values they hold dear and the reason is that most of us do not bother to learn about anyone else as our mindset is totally focused on ourselves most of the time with little insight for the many others that exist in this world. I point out that we cannot understand why another people have so little interest in something similar to "our way" of self determination in government. We have engaged in wars expending many lives to achieve that which is really quite unacheivable in warfare. If we were to train and educate some of these countries before engaging in war the results might be different. Otherwise we are wasting lives trying to accomplish things that may never come about despite the heroic efforts of so many of our soldiers. I pray every day and many moments of the day for our soldiers so tasked. I would rather bring them all home than continue doing what we attempt.

However, this does not justify our ignorance of others, it only points out how hard it is for two different civilizations to understand each other. If all you knew, never introduced you to the values of life under the U.S. Constitution, how would you value those elements. In the mid-east things like a "caste system", or rule by "religious hierarchy", or even rule by "war lord", or some other form of "strong man" has been the way of life for centuries. Very clearly for these people rule by democracy is equal to rule by a despot who inflicts his personal values upon others as there is no educational level to hold up a common sense decision made by a group of voters. How often we don't have that even where our educational system is comparitively good.... Well, because of our massive ignorance we are not able to make good decisions about injecting ourselves into their conflicts. At some point I do believe a stand has to be made but we need to have some reasonable goals based on what is possible before engaging so much or our people. It is clear a decade of investment in war is not enough to overcome these ways of life because they are not where we were when we "evolved" from government systems in Europe that our system is descended from. Why would we expect them to automatically have our values. Their religious leaders have already proclaimed the violence against the Koran burning as wrongfull acts yet it continues. How deaf are our Westboro people when our leaders express similar statements to those acts as well.

Yes, we are different but in ignorance we become the same as those we are currently decrying. How easy it is to make fun of others when we are able to remain in a form of denial about ourselves. They have some excuse for ignorance.....but do we?

Chaps....Libya is a mess...Its a bigger mess now than last year at the same time....The militias rule in Tripoli and all towns to the east. No govt has dared to challenge them. The hospitals are full of gun shot wounds not one left over from the civil if you can call it one...war...The militias rule not law and order...the press here has in general moved on...Which is probably best...not censorship more if we got the Latest Libyan story every day, we would be more livid than we are with the small amount they bother to follow...As for our help...pick a side...stir the waters..and see what you get....Unfortunately we get Libyan mercenaries training in Jordan to enter Syria at our behest and our arms...at least provided even if they are ak47's and rpg's...Stir the pot in Syria and bugger me...stand back upset when it goes awry. Scream and shout when reporters get killed due to the pot external forces stirred...who do you think houses these external forces...who's interviewing them in London daily? Assads a killer...we've just allowed him to mimic his dad...well done to us...Meanwhile Libya's shoulder launched toys are turning up in Somalia....Well bugger me and Gadafi together....Libya will get much worse...Oh and Bahrain are not allowed to be part of the spring for freedom movement...why is that? Why are we zipping our mouths over doctors and nurses jailed for doing their job...and sSaudis nightly cordoning off whole towns...bullets against crowds allowed there...And nothing but measly words...I've got an idea...why don't we prove to the Arabs and the world we are not the hypocrites they think and announce a no fly zone over Bahrain?
