I thought this was a decent forum for WWII buffs, not WWII butts! Any army would surrender upon seeing these secret weapons
Heh heh, there's plenty of Imperial awards to choose from (as potential new ones) One I really like and would love to own a copy of (in real life that is) is an Imperial Russian medal made of Platinum and gold. I think it's called the Order of Alexander Nevsky? which really is a beautiful award. If I ever get to 100,000 postings, otto is going to need an entire Library Wing to display all of the awards. And speaking of the Alexander Nevsky Order, I think Stefan, Slava and Miguel will particularly like that award.
Gotta agree with you on that one, very fond of the order and Nevsky is a pretty inspirational character Now there is a challenge for Peppy to attempt Alexander Nevsky - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia How many posts are you going to need for the gold star of the 'Hero of the Soviet Union?'
Stefan, thanks for the pic. Im not clear what these are worth but I was looking on a Russian MIl site yesterday and I don't know if my eyes betrayed what I saw but I could swear that these sell for in excess of about a mere $350,000????
Another I like is another nice looking badge and I don't know the proper name for it but I think the "Man-on-the-medal's" last name is Kuhlmetzky or something like that? I'll try checking and post back here what the correct name is.
The order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky? how about the 'order of Victory' for gaudy: There are loads more to choose from, I rather like the order of Suverov: Orders, decorations, and medals of the Soviet Union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Only 18 Orders of Victory was issued, so I doubt you'll find many on the market at whatever price Zhukov had two!
True true, but still, they must be worth millions with the sheer amount of stone-work and platinum on them.
That's right. Here's a complete list. Two-time recipients Joseph Stalin Aleksandr Vasilevsky Georgy Zhukov One-time recipients Aleksei Antonov Leonid Govorov Ivan Konev Rodion Malinovsky Kirill Meretskov Konstantin Rokossovsky Semyon Timoshenko Fyodor Tolbukhin Leonid Brezhnev (Awarded in 1978, revoked in 1989) ( the same a$$ hole who awarded himself 5 Stars of HSU!)) Foreign recipients Dwight Eisenhower (United States) Josip Broz Tito (Yugoslavia) Bernard Montgomery (United Kingdom) Michal Rola-Zymierski (Poland) Michael I of Romania (the last living recipient)
Hey I thought the commies did not want luxuries and wanted to share everything? Their medals are worth millions.
Commies will want whatever they think people can't get to but hey, that's their way not anyone elses.
Hearts and minds, Skipper, hearts and minds In any case after recipient's death these high value orders (same as Marshal Stars, see below) are returned to the State Diamond Fund (which ought to be a sight to see). Here is the Star of Marshal of the SU hanging from Vasilevsk's neck. Gold, platinum, diamonds. You can see 5 Orders of Lenin. More platinum Not to mention the 2 Orders of Victory, 2 :hsu: plus a lot more. Gen George C. Patton the Russky Baiter was awarded an Order of Suvorov 1st Class, IIRC. Look at this list (non-ehaustive): This comes from The Soviet Military Awards Page Forum , now there's a new home for both of us, I and The Red Rabbi. So you see from the above, there's a lot of people implicated , I wonder what Joe Mccarthy did about all these dangerous Communist Sympathizers! Now, see the difference between adding content and shooting one's mouth off?
Roguettes? Sounds like a Orchastra or a "Boy-Band" personally either of which I would be delighted to see some explosions!
