There's really only one choice there. The Sherman is just an interesting tank, as it was the second most numerous AFvehicle in WW2.
I will forever wonder how things would have been different if the M26 Pershing had been available in June 1944.
Sherman firefly, okay maybe the gun is British, and the Americans themselves never used the fireflies.
The gun is slightly inferior, isn't it? Anyway the Firefly beats the M4(76) by one year. And it was a TD, not an MBT like the late Sherman.
The 17 pounder is significantly better than the American 76mm M1A1C. However, the Sherman 76(w) had features that the firefly didn't. Namely a thicker glacis plate, wet ammo storage, larger turret, etc. If I had to be in command of a tank in WW2 and had to choose between the Firefly and, say, the M4A1 76(w), I would easily take the American tank for the simple fact that the crew has a higher chance for survival if hit and the gun has a much faster rate of fire while still being able to deal with most types of enemy armor.
you have to go with the M3! how cool is a little 12 ton tank with under 60mm of armor and a dinky little 37mm! the sherman was famous, but the M3 is about the funniest tank (not counting the crazy brits)
Hey! This tank served it's purpose of recon vehicle with all Allies troughout the war, and it did so with good results! ...and its cute! Welcome to the forum, johann.
Some Stuarts were called Honey because of their honeycomb-shaped turret. It was a joke ( not a very funny one, but still... ).
The turret shape has always been funny to me. Though the sides are all corners, the turret ring is a full circle; it just doesn't fit!
The little stuart tank was the sporty one you could drive at weekends the Sherman was the regular day tank 8)
