Saw it Saterday night. Pretty good storyline, but there are a few thing i don't really get In one scene they squadron has to attack a Zepplin that's moving to bomb Paris. They shoot it and it doesn't explode (they get a couple of Germans running around inside though). When they do get it...one of the dorsal gunners starts running doen the length of it....while it's exploding. So. 1. If they loaded incendary bullets why did the squadron leader have to fly into it (he was dead anyways but still). At least the tracer wouls have gotten it so why didn't it go sooner? A small spark caused the destruction of the Hindenburg (one theory only- I don't think anybody really knows for sure) 2. It's exploding and it's a few thousand feet up. Where ya gonna run? Oh and if the humans race ever get as stupid as they were in Starship Troopers...just shoot me. ("I can't stress this enough. Taking a planet filled with perfect killers is not possible with only Infantry. Armour and air support you morons. And never leave your stinking cruisers in low orbit for longer than you need to. That's just beggin for trouble")
To the place where they keep the parachutes This movie is just one of the so many movies where the trhuth is beeing ignored in order to get some spectable
Why wouldn't you run? I dont see a reason why he would stay. I am certain I would run if in his shoes unless I was so scared I couldn't. Evan if it keeps him alive for 5 more seconds it was worth it. I seen it Friday night not bad some parts kind of boring.
in ww1 ,aircrew were seen to jump from burning airplanes quite often...why ?,well because anywhere is better than being roasted alive where they were sitting, even without parachutes as there were none,in those days...
Guess that means that in reality they only had 2 options instead of 3...the third one being a pistol.
You're not likely to kill yourself if you have even the faintest hope of surviving. I guess anyone jumping from a burning airplane without a parachute is hoping to land favourably somewhere, somehow. And even if you don't, there's a big chance you break a few bones and live, rather than dying a certain death.
iirc a brit tail gunner (his turret too small for parachute)...he hit a pine tree on one side and trimmed all the limbs off . then hit snow..i think he broke his leg ... needless to say lufw. debiefers were quite tiresome with questions about the lack of a chute ....
