The Folland Gnat was cheap, had excellent performance and proved to be a very capable dogfighter overseas but it's country of origin, Britain, only ever employed it as a trainer and aerobatic display plane. Given that Britain could have enhanced its combat capabilities further with air to air missiles, should they have given the little blighter a combat role ?
