TOLEDO,OHIO - Fredrick Joseph "Fritz" Kasper of Toledo, Ohio, died December 25 at Hospice of N.W. Ohio of natural causes. He was 82 years old.
Fritz was born in Swanton, Ohio on March 13, 1926 to parents Fredrick and Mildred Kasper; he was the second of 11 children. At 18 he joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II in the South Pacific. After the war he married Yvonne P. Vernier on September 13, 1947 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage until her passing in February 2003.
FritzÕs life was embedded within the creative process; professionally as a salon owner and hairdresser, and as a sculptor, painter, and collector. Never with an angry voice he taught with kindness and a gentle manner that brought warmth and understanding. Always funny and by no means boring, he loved conversations and socializing and had a natural curiosity about people. In heaven he joins his beloved wife Yvonne. He leaves behind those waiting to talk to him again: his only daughter, Ramona Lauber, grandchildren Christian Lauber, Jared Lauber, Laura Lauber and Barbara Lauber, great-grandchildren, Eleanor Grounds-Lauber and Melana Lauber, brothers James, Peter, George, and Larry, and sisters, Judy Smith and Janet Federle.
His independent and generous spirit will never be forgotten. Fritz continues to live in those that he touched with his loving heart.
Memorial services will be held January 24th at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 4227 Bellevue Rd., Toledo, Ohio 43613.
