Between the wars, France experimented with semi-auto rifles. One I heard about was mild steel. And yet it went through about 20,000 rounds before it blew. What I'd to know is its designation and if anybody has any pictures it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This was developed in the 30s. IIRC, it was in a book called "Proud Promise". It talked about France's attempts to create a semi auto for its military. Unfortunately the library that loaned it to mine apparently does not have it any longer.

could a semi-auto of helped a-little-in 1940? I thought most the action was French troops retreating and German planes attacking.
