Most likely if you find somebody hurt in a road by itself, if you stop you'll be hijacked by the "victim's" friends.

The above is nothing but sheer lunacy! I think MIZZ Van Horn is only looking to fill her greedy pockets full of cash. Damn, if I had been helped-i'd be G~R~E~A~T~F~U~L for any help I could get. I guess the word greatful, isn't in that persons dictionary.

Am I the only one who thought a. If it's a friend it can't really be a 'Good Samaritan' as the whole parable is about a stranger helping someone he has no reason to like, quite the opposite in fact and b. It can't be much of a friend if you then sue them!

Agreed , it's all a matter of money. I hope the judges will reject her demand and make her pay the costs

That and her perhaps being bitter for thinking that he friend contributed to her being paralyzed and wanting to punish her friend.

The trouble is, is that people are always looking to point their finger and blame someone else rather than to fess-up and admit that they reacted in a bad manner. That's part of growing up and being an adult about it. Skipper's right and I hope any Judge worth their salt-will just dismiss the absurd case. Like said above-if that person is going to sue her friend-some friend she was in the first place.

Money and perhaps revenge for paralyzing her?

I know this is harsh thing to say but i would rather see someone burn than help, because as a trained nurse i can't afford to do anything to jepadise my medical career, and if i was to administer any kind of treatment that goes wrong i could be find ($100,000 Au) then sued for medical malpractice and struck off the register, or even face gaol time.

As a first responder who has worked countless accident scenes, I have noticed that because of Hollywood there is misperception that every crashed car will burst into flame. I did the "What?" thing when I first heard of this as Texas has a strong Good Samaritan law, but the samaritan here did goof. She feared the car would burst into flame, although it didn't.

I did pull a passed out stoner from a burning van once. There were about ten guys trying to help initially, but once the engine went, all but two of us ran.

Ruhm is 100% right, don't move the victim if you don't have to.
