Re: what gun A police computer/program. But with respect ot WW2 I don't know. ( non american bashing)
That is an M40 light machine gun isn't it? Basically the Russian equivalent of the Bren. I don't know how it got its name.
Actually it is Degtyarev DP-27. Maybe that m/28 is same weapon with different name? Found that picture from Max Popenkers website. http://world.guns.ru/machine/mg34-e.htm Name "Emma" comes from its pan magazine which looked like an old music record and "Emma" was a hit song back in the 30's and 40's in Finland. That gun was very appreciated and thousands of them were captured by Finnish troops. Finland had more of them at summer -44 than Finnish Lahti-Saloranta m/26 LMG's. Lahti-Saloranta m/26 wasn't bad weapon, DP-27 was just better. Little curiosity: Our former President Mauno Koivisto was DP-27 shooter back in WW2.
I have no idea to be honest. Both reference works I have on small arms are a bit datet, and we all know how accurate western sources used to be about Russian names and designations ( and still is in some cases ).
Looks a bit like an up-calibered Bren gun ( ), but I'm betting on an AT gun... (sorry for another vague answer)
