My interests? My father: RAF Flying Instructor/ Lancaster Pilot. Shot down, escaped capture, returned to Britain, became a Pathfinder pilot. My Mother WRAF, Operations Pathfinders (not allowed for both to be with Pathfinders but an exception was made). After the war and my father's death my mother and ex-Wehrmacht officer became a pair. He was not a Nazi, but had absconded (deserted), he and some like-minded German soldiers went on the run, at one point meeting up with some RAF escapees and sharing food and stories, they too avoided capture by the German military/ Gestapo. My Mother-in-law is French, married a French/ Algerian Jewish Communist Journalist who went on the run, joined and fought with the US Army in Italy and Germany. Her father was shot dead one night after a visit to "The Colonel" but no further explanation. Her best friend's husband was dismembered by the Gestapo using a circular saw, her sister married an ex-French Waffen SS Charlemagne regiment Officer, he was very definitely a Nazi, but he got away with it. My current interest? What actually happened during “Operation Lüttich?” All minutiae and/ or leads and suggestions gratefully received [FONT="] Apart from that, nothing special Good to be here!
