Do you have any rough idea what geographical areas he served in?

SDMF--The ribbon shown is an U.S. Air Force Military Training Instructor Ribbon.
I don't find one like it in either the Navy or Marine ribbons.
Was he in the Air Force after serving in the Navy?

You're right--I just looked again and the end colors are different. Sorry I'll keep looking.
I don't have a book on the National Guard ribbons but could be one of those.

It seems as close as any, but the ends appear to be white on the original, but not on the Washington Award.

Look more closely to the .svg, it's hard to tell on the grayish background.
I tried to find more infos about that medal but couldn't find anything.

interesting. Ill have to ask him about that. Maybe he was doing something in conjunction with them and received it, I am almost positive he was never a member of the WANG.

Regardless, what a great link to have bookmarked. I didn't have a book on National Guard Awards, now I don't need one--thanks

This medal means that he was stationed in the Pacific theatre during WWll. I was also there 1944-46. Hope this helps.
