Hi! I just signed up for this wonderful forum and I decided to introduce myself My name is Kelly and I'm from Antwerp, Belgium (that's the Flemish part of the country). I'm only 20 y/o but very interested in WW2. Especially the ETO interests me because I obviously can relate better to those events. I also wanted to add that I think too many young people take their freedom for granted and don't realize how hard our ancestors worked for our modern and luxurious lifestyles. But on the other hand, everyone says I'm stuck in the 40's, so maybe there's something wrong with me instead of them Anyways, now you all know me a little better! Greetings from Belgium, Kelly
Welcome to the Forum. You will find that there are several members in your age group who are very knowledgeable about WWII and can probably relate to what you said about yourself in your introduction. I hope you enjoy yourself here.
Howdy Kelly, Good to have you here. You are the second young woman we've had join today and that is a good thing.
Hi there Kelly. I'm sure you will feel right at home. There is a lot of information and wisdom in here. Happy posting!
Howdy Kelly and welcome to the forum. Here, you will not be an outcast. A Rogue maybe, but not an outcast. Glad to have you with us. Happy posting.
If you think you will be treated as an outcast, ask macrusk (Michelle), I think that she will disagree with you.
Hi Kelly -- Welcome to this fine place and thank you for joining! I am sure that you will find that we are an easy-going group and that age has no bearing on how you will be received. Indeed, there are several veterans on the forum who make those of us who are twice your age feel very young and inexperienced at times! Just join in the discussions that you find interesting and you will learn much! Cheers!
Hello everyone! Thank you for your kind words and warm welcomes so far I'm sure I will enjoy this message board very much. I'm learning already!
Hello Kelly, Some day I would love to go to Belgium and roam the Ardennes a little bit. My Father was in Belgium for a while during WWII. Welcome to the forum.
Nice to have you aboard, Kelly. We're a pretty friendly lot, and you will find an amazing amount of knowledge among the Rogues. Feel free to ask questions and respond when you feel comfortable. Most of all, enjoy yourself.
Hi! If you'd like, I have some photo's online from my first visit to Bastogne and Henri-Chapelle past winter. Ironically, it was our coldest winter in decades! It really set the mood. Flickr: Kelly Versmissen's Photostream Never mind the silly pictures though we had a party that same weekend...
Welcome to the forum, Kelly. I really enjoyed your Bastogne pics, and encourage everyone to check them out. I particularly liked the clear shots of the monuments and memorials, allowing those of us with little likelyhood of visiting the area to read the inscriptions. One of my favorites is shown on Bastogne0136, the Easy Company memorial: "The Eagle will always scream for our fallen brothers." Interesting to note that Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hanks appear as some of the donors to the monument. The rose was nice, too. Join in.... ...... have fun..... ...............and post often! -Lou
