I was lucky enough to get this old cabinet from my partners work. They were throwing it out, when she thought it might do the job. I cleaned it up a bit and lined it with black card. Ive bought a few things lately and chop and change where I am putting some bits and pieces.
My daggers Ive still to decide but for the moment they are hanging on the opposite wall next to my "library" shelf.

    regards John

    Hi Guys

Some Great Displays...Congrats to all of you, very nice collections.

I am one who worries about the long term effect on my items. Woods, glues, paints, etc. can "out gas" or release Acetic and Formic Acids. These acids cause corrosion of pieces held in them. Wood also attracts moisture.

    My collection - Part 1

I choose to display my badges in Aluminum cases with glass tops. Aluminum is inert as far as out gassing and is archival safe.

    Here they are...

    Best regards, fischer

    My Collection - Part 2

The Aluminum case was perfect for long term but wanted a way to store my IAB collection avoiding the possibility of having them inadvertently bang into each other.

I found these...They are 100% archival safe. Inside each box I place un-dyed Polar Fleece for padding and wrap each one in 100% unbleached cotton Muslin.

Here is how I store them now.

    Best Regards, fischer

Hi andypants, its an SA flagpole top.
I keep a silicon bag at each level and under each hat, just to draw away the moisture.
Fischer mate, thats some collection of IABs:eek:
    congrats on a cracking display

    regards John

Fischer, I am flabbergasted but, that is one darn great display ;-)) One year, mine might start looking a little more like yours - but by then, you will probably own a thousand of them - which is a good thing ;-))

Hi Erich, no I have one room to display everything, its just this one is my office too. My daggers are on the opposite wall from the old display cabinet.
My belts are on the windowsill and my library on the shelf opposite.
The rooms actually not that big. 4 metres x 4 metres approx.
I also have a large cupboard in the house and half of my wardrobe stuffed with British army uniforms caps etc.

    regards John;)

Hi John, Sorry I didn't see this to thank you or showing a tastefully done display. Great collection and your badges appear to be well--WOW ;-)) I didn't see your post because I was blinded by all the glare bouncing off of all of Fischers pictured IABs ;-))

    Best regards-_Carl.

PS, I have to owe you a :salute: as I don't have any at this time. Will try to leave reps ;-))

John can you possibly take pics of the other "sides" yeah I am asking alot.

this is a far cry from now but hopeful once relatives things are in order and out of my way will take full on pics of the Hub that I dwell in. things need to get processed and framed there are stacks of items loking me in the eyes daily.

I know Carl has a truckload of items he would like to get on the walls and in cases.

Hi E, thats the truth. If I wind up moving back to Corpus Christi in the next several month to a year? I know a great Furniture Store that im going to buy a nice display cabinet from. They have nice Oak and or Cherry wood stuff for sale-a bit pricy but worth it. I was even thinking of having my Mauser Sniper variant mounted in a hand-built case made especially for it by a Gent I know who also lives in Corpus.

E, I tried to leave Reps for your B.Bs badge and stickpin but, I guess Mods aint allowed to recieve reps anymore?

I keep my rifles in a safe...fireproof, bolt down Ft. Knox version. My other (small) collection of items, mostly US medals and patches, I keep just out and about. I need a proper display area for them. Maybe if I ever get the office back together.

Mine are in a safe now as well, but when I get some custom made shadow-like boxes made-then they will be in them and on my wall. The handgun will of course, be kept handy-just in case.

very nice indeed John. Have you thought seriously about a frame pic or two up with the daggers to break up the all white background ?

Hi Erich, the daggers are only up there temporarily. Your absolutely right mate. Too white.
The rooms only just been finished (decorated). So I am going to look out for some nice wall mounted display cases.
Now how about some pics of your collection too?
    regards John
