Nice looking forum and there seems to be plenty of people here that really know what their talking about. I especially like the what if board. I think my interest for the subject came with playing return to castle wolfenstein, watching movies like cross of iron and watching the history channel. What caught everybody else's interest in ww2 initially? A few years ago i caught half of a documentary about what if the battle of Britain went the Luftwaffe's way (perhaps by continuing to bomb the air fields and the strange metal towers dotted around) and operation sea lion had gone ahead. I would love to see the whole thing but I cant remember its title, done a few searches but had no luck, can anybody remember what it was called? There has also been a documentary on what if hitler had dropped a dirty bomb on New York, if you can get hold of that its worth a watch.
Hi, and welcome! And I'm sure I also saw a documentary about Britain being occupied...Was it called Hitler's Britain by any chance? My Intrest is in Armoured warfare, and I first got my interest by playing Medal of Honour Frontline at a friend's. AND-may I ask where your from?
Welcome to the forum Waggy. I was researching to find out more about my grandfather's role during the war. Happy posting
Hey! am new hee too and like the discussions and thoughts of everyone. I really read and watch too much about WWII but find it fascinating, so many angles to see events from. sadly i dont seem to remember ever seeing those doc's but let me know if u get a hold of them, sound interesting. later
Are you referring to Return to Castle Wolfenstein or the 1992 PC game Wolf3D? I got my first taste of WWII mowing down mutant nazis in a secret bunker. This website is great because you can learn that there are so many amazing true stories about the war. Welcome and dive right in!
Ah cheers thats the one Im from England. Aye Peppy I played wolf 3d many years ago and been playing fps ever since and still playing the latest incarnation of wolfenstein in enemy territory, but it was RTCW that really got me into it. I seem to remember some things in wolf3d that would never be allowed in today's games, for example at the end of the game you had to shoot some child sized corpses that had been hanged to finish the level, probably Jewish. Quite sickening really, i guess there wasn't a governing body to monitor the content in games back then.
I thought you left! (...he just sticks around, kinda like a fart in yesterdays trousers!...) Welcome, Waggy! -Lou
Hi there waggy! Welcome too the Forums. I am addicted to the what if board myself. My interests are military history in general, and since finding these forums, WWII in particular. Have you had a chance to check out many of the what if's, and if so, drop me a PM {Private Message} and tell me which ones were your favorites and why.
:blaz: Wolf3D was the first great WWII game and the first FPS that most people really ever played. RTCW was quite good also, some great levels there, and some great weapons, like the mp40, the panzerfaust, the deadly Snooper and let's not forget the mighty Venom Gun! :venom-fire:
