At a guess I reckon I have over 200 war films (Inc. WW1, Korea, Vietnam etc etc.)

I only have a few documentaries:

World at War (Probably the best WW2 Doc ever made)
Play.com (UK) : The World At War Box Set (11 Discs) : DVD - Free Delivery

Century of Warfare (Only watched the first disc so far and it's good for £18)
Play.com (UK) : Century Of Warfare Box Set (8 Discs) : DVD - Free Delivery

A First World War Boxset (8 Discs) thats brilliant but I can't find a link to it.

I tend to watch most of the military doc's on satellite hence why I don't have many.

    Cheers

I USED to have well over 500 Documentaries but gave most of them away about 2 years ago. I also had hundreds of War movies and several hundred Westerns-but most of those went with the Docs when I gave away over 500 VHS tapes.

Im slowly rebuilding the movie collections on DvD. I quit counting how many War Movies I have on DvD after about 80-or-so. I have no Docs on DvD yet.

The shelving unit on the left says it all - ALL WORLD WAR 2. I have since filled up the empty shelf you see in the picture. My collection continues to grow:

Does Mister Roberts and The Caine Mutiny count?

If so, I have two. If not, I have none...

I also don't really collect movies/dvds, but I happened to come across the complete Victory at Sea TV programs for $5.00 and couldn't resist. Now I just have to sit and watch them sometime.

Lou they are worth it, you note many stills in book from the motion pics within that vid.

man, V. at Sea is really aging some of us, like Walter Cronkite's the 20th Century.

I have two uncles (well one is deceased) who were both in the Navy, so I learned to watch the series when I was a kid. It is a good memory. All of my mother's siblings had a big effect on my growing up.

I also recall Cronkite's 20th Century. I prefer to think of myself as "experienced" rather than old. ;)

experienced is a good word for it, old........me, nah the brain is still working correctly. Yes both Father and Father-in law were in the navy in the Pacific theater during the war. more relatives on both side of sphere served but that is another story not wishing to get OT

In my book they count and I STILL don't have a copy of Mister Roberts--yet but, im now working on getting three on DvD that are not released by Ami companies though all are Ami films. They are: A Time To Love and a Time To Die, 55 Days At Peking and, Hannible Brooks.

I'd get the V at S docs if they were restored and printed and released by a reputable company. I to also remember The 20th Century-but only saw those for the first time cica about 1986 or so and on A&E. Another series I liked very much was the Battleline-doc series. Those were only 30 minutes in length but were most excellent. These were told from the mouths of the Soldiers who fought against each other.

Im on Netflix too-which i think is a greats ervice and-a great way to view something cheaply enough and finding out if its for my collection or not? In the past i have bought about 15 or so movies not having seen them before-and only after buying and watching it-finding out that it was a stinker of a movie and a waste of money. these i usually give away to anyone wanting them or donating them to the Library.
