Is this young officer Karl Rudolf Gerd von Rundstedt, later field marshal in WWII? I have another picture that I do know is Rundstedt, but I think it's during WWI. Is he the same man? In the late 1930s.
Friedrich Looking at the ear-lobe on the first picture, that ear-lobe is bigger (hangs down) while in the von Rundstedt picture they are small. Ear do not change too much in years. Popski
Fried, can you somehow get a close-up on the uniform buttons in the first photograph? If so, then I can tell you for sure if he is German.
Also, being that they had so many variations of uniforms in the Imperial times, im sure it is a German uniform. This one appears to be a Parade uniform because of the piping, style of collar and the kind of shoulderboards he is wearing. Notice there is tresse on the collar and around the cuffs. The sword is definately German and looks like a Dovehead sword.
Thanks for the help, guys! However, I still have doubts, the nose is very similar, as the form of the face, eyebrows and chin...
The hairline as well as the part are different. The bone structure of the eyebrows seem different. Difficult to tell. Interesting find though
Can somebody research the medals and see if they are those that would have been awarded the officer in question?
