I was wondering if this helmet is from ww2, i contacted a guy that claimed it is original, but i need some advise before i buy it... Can anyone help me?
I'm not the best at US helmets however I'm comfortable enough to say this is a post war put together, it looks like the entire interior of the liner is repro straps. my recommendation is stay away from it. Mike
well the liner is ww2 style but it might be an original liner with a vietnam steel pot tell to prove what he is saying to you
The liner is WWII, looks reproduction though. The shell is not. You want to look for the chinstrap swivels to be fixed, and not movable. Also, look for a seam on that helmet. If it is on the back of the rim, it's a post war helmet. They used to be on the front, but the seam would start to peel off and soldiers would cut their hands on them, taking and putting on their helmets.
The liner is WWII-but somethings not right about it though-at least compared wit my Dads WWII fixed bale helmet I still have. Its been repainted though. Other than that-I can't tell you much about it except the chin strap aint a WWII strap-too thin and too wide.
