I've been cleaning out my grandpa's room recently and I've just come upon two items that could have belonged to him or my great-grandfather who served in the Kwangtung Army in Manchuria.

The cork was wedged in too tightly and it was already rotting so I just left it there

The tin also served as a rice cooker and the small tray served as a plate for okazu, which are sides in a meal

This is on the inner side of the top cover. Difficult to see but it say's Showa 16, the 16th year of the Emperor Showa, or 1941

As I am still cleaning out my grandpa's closets, I assume that a lot more Japanese equipment and other items of that era will show up, these being the first of many. So stay tuned.
