Shots mainly made by Luftwaffe pilots during WW2 while flying Recon over Russian cities. Some are personal photos taken by the Airman. Enjoy! More below!
Fantastic images - are there any notes to go with them to indicate unit, date etc? I think the city that appears in a few of the images looks like Kharkov with the Gosprom (House Of State Industry) complex (seen more clearly in the 5th colour image) on Dzerzhinsky Square (the circular area in the first image.) I think every soldier or airman who went to the city must of taken a photo of it as it appears in a lot of photos. After the 1943 German counter-offensive, Dzerzhinsky Square was renamed Platz der Leibstandarte in honour of the LSSAH who had borne the brunt of the fighting for the city although obviously it didn't stay that way for long after the Russians recaptured the city.
