    Miles Dempsey (1896-1969)

    Nationality: British. [​IMG]

    Senior position: Commander Second Army.

    Final rank: Lieutenant-General.

    Dempsey, who fought at Dunkirk, was then tasked with raising an armoured division. Thereafter he successfully led the British XIII Corps in latter stages of the North African campaign, in Sicily, and then Italy. He was next given the Second Army, which fought in Western Europe from 1944 to 1945.
