This article is amazing. A 96 year old Japanese spy was found behind a burrito bar near my hometown on Grand Haven, Michigan just feet from Lake Michigan. He was in full soldiers kit and has apparently been here in Michigan as a spy since World War 2, taking notes and spying on places like the American Legion hall. Even more interesting, a case from 1968 in Grand Haven is being reviewed about teenagers who claimed they were abducted by an "Asian soldier dude" which was originally dismissed because the teenage hippies smelled of Marijuana lol! Here is the article from the local newspaper, a few miles from where I live! http://grandrivertimes.net/pow-behind-butchs/
Some of the comments (I just did a quick scan) indicate that this article has very close analogs in the Onion.
Michigan would be at the top of the list to place a WW2 Japanese spy. And what better place to uncover America's dirty little secrets than at the local American Legion Post. After those guys have a few drinks, there's no telling what you'll find out. I remember sitting at a table with my Dad when I was around 10 years old listening to the Old Soldiers talking. If a foreign agent heard some of the things I heard they would most certainly hide behind a Burrito shop for 70 years. But I think this : "By mid-afternoon, Butch’s had added a commemorative Banzai Burrito to its menu, and early indications provide indicators which indicate the Banzai Burrito is proving immediately popular with Butch’s customers." may have more to do with it.
Color me skeptical. My mother will be 90, and she was only 17 when the US got involved in WW 2. Besides, when I went to my father's reunions in the early 60s, they won the war bigger each year.
It could be fake, who knows. I do know there was a japanese officer held up in the Phillipines until 1974, finally laying down his arms after his commander came to relieve him and let him know the war has been over for a while. See here: http://history1900s.about.com/od/worldwarii/a/soldiersurr.htm
Its fake. Putting the "facts" aside, if this was true why wouldn't any of the "big name" media stations be carrying it now?
Are you suggesting the Grand River Times isn't "big name" media? Actually, if you just link to the other stories you'll quickly discover it's a parody site.
Of course not! I apologize for the confusion. I wouldn't want to insult the great people of Grand River, or their marvelous newspaper, by referring to it as anything less than "big [bullshit] media".... B) Exactly why I said "its fake".
The very fact that you are reading it shows its international influence. What happens at Butch's Beach Burritos may rear its ugly head at a Tim Hortons near you!
That scenario is unacceptable. The Prime Minister would be forced to activate the national guard, armed to the teeth with hockey sticks and maple syrup bottles fashioned into Molotov cocktails. "We will fight them in the drive thru, we will fight them at the cash register, we will fight them at the donut tray. We will never surrender".
