Should be pretty easy for y'all
It's not the Bismarck!
Is it a South Dakota class BB? The North Carolinas had two funnels, but both classes were very similar, 35,000 tons displacement and 9 16" guns.
USS Alabama, or Massachusetts, BB's 60 & 59 in the same order. South Dakota and Indiana, BB's 57 & 58, were sold for scrap.
Looks more like Alabama to me, since shore property along the "Cape" is pricey (to say the least).
Doh! Look where Slipdigit is from...lol. I think you're right.
It is a beautiful ship, The USS Alabama, BB60, docked as a permanent memorial in Mobile* Bay, Alabama.
Also there is the USS Drum, a Gato-class submarine. It was finally beached a few years ago because the hull was rusting out in the salt water of the bay.
*Mobile is derived from French and is pronounced like this, although we in Alabama put a bit more flavor in the pronuciation than does the woman in the link.
I've always been amazed at the beauty of American battleships.
Dang thats a beauty, now I need to go play on google earth and see If I can find something cool to quiz ya all on
I have a ship but it's easy to cheat off of.... wahhhhhhhhhhh
Who ever gave the correct answer goes next M.C117. Once you answer one correctly, given permission by the one who answered the question correctly, or it has been over a week since last post.
It was really just a one-off question, but if y'all want to make a game of it, use this thread:
You can go with it, Cheef.
Ex U.S. hull "Rio Parana".
Sister ship of Archer and Avenger.
Damaged by "Fido" torpedo accidentally dropped by one of her Swordfish.
Loaned to French navy post-war, saw service in Indo-China as the Dixmude.
Sunk as a target post-1966.
Please read what Slipdigit said and continue this there.
Sounds like a good plan, RocketFlight
Anyone want to pic this quiz back up?
I had not realized it was closed. That's all fixed now. Y'all give it run.
Alright, don't know how hard this one will be....
