Hey y'all, Just wanted to let all the mods and admins know that the new layout of the forums looks great. I really like the notifications thingamajigger, helps me keep updated with things much easier. That is all, I salute all of you! - Me.
Thank you, I like it too, but to be honest, I'm still having trouble with it. It's like getting used to a new car.
Sounds familiar. I've had the same problem since day 1. Also can't do much by way of editing my profile.
Test request for Notifications and Messenger Could one or more of you send me a message, and some variations of notification(s)? I want to see how these work on the new forum. Secondly: I am hoping that if we all get into the habit of posting a message that one of their old threads has had a new response to it will show up like blazes and encourage them to drop in after a long absence. Many, many of our best experts and most prolific members have stayed away since the malware hit. People whose knowledge I am in real need of have not been back for over a year. I've been checking. ===> Unless we tell them when and where a new request is or that new information has come up, they will have to troll for eons before getting rewarded for their earlier work. <=== Thanks
Fair request....But I consider the input of the youngest...newest....contributer as worthwhile as any other... But on this note....One of the mods could contact Martin Bull and let him know his forum awaits his input once more...I know we changed the forum setup to get rid of him...but I think we should have a vote and a rethink....
Thanks urqh. Got your notifications and message. What we get is a small red box with very small white number indicating the number of notifications awaiting us (instead of a pop up box.) All very good for people very familiar with forums, who know to look for such things. But much better is that when a private message is sent to a member ===> An email is sent to them notifying them of this! <=== :whip: My thinking is that we should get into the routine of messaging long lost members that an old thread has been replied to. This might go a long way towards reviving participation by some of the many good members we have lost.
