I am dcjeepgc (Derrick) and live in Edmonton Alberta. I am a 47 year old former Social Studies teacher who now supervises a team of counsellors in a rehabilitation centre for adults with addiction problems. I have a long standing interest in military history in general and WWII specifically. Although I have a general knowledge of all the campaignes I have a particular interest in the Eastern Front campaignes throughout the 41-45 years. I suppose this is because of the vast scale of the battles, the consequences of them on both sides, the enormous sacrifices suffered all around (especially on the civilian population) and the potential future consequences for the entire world had Hilter been successful. I also have a great interest in the American Civil war. I am looking forward to both sharing what I know and learning from all of you. :)

Welcome to the forum. The one book that really made an impression on me about the eastern front was _The Tigers Are Burning_ by Martin Caidin. Great book about the Battle of Kursk.
