It certainly doesn't look good does it. Pesonally I view North Korea a much bigger threat than Iraq. I was also watching the news and heard someone from North Korea saying 'war with North Korea means another world war' (or something like that). The UN should ditch Iraq and go sought out the North Korea situation before it turns more serious than it already is.

I think the situation stinks and that the NKs are trying tom blackmail the entire world and trying to embarass the USA and our allies even more.

Im going to sound bad for saying this but...
If there is going to be any fighting--I think they should do one front at a time. ANd of course im not in favor of there being anymore trouble than there already is at hand. (((B-I-G----S-I-G-H)))

We may not be given a choice. The way that this erratic, Stalinist, North Korean dictator behaves, it's anybody's guess what will happen. That and given the current pacifist, political climate in South Korea means that a war could very well be in the making.

South Korea minces and makes political nice-nice with overtures to the North and the hopeful results being the eventual re-unification of the country. The North however, views all those in the South as worm food if they don't become good Communists when all is said and the battle done.

I think that North-Korea instead of Iraq is the real threat.

They probably have nuclear weapons or are close of developing one. While Iraq probably hastn't have one, and not for the next year or so.

I agree--I think N.K is more of a threat than hussein is. What is troubling me is--is that i'll agin have several friends in the military over there again. This time not only in the American Military. I already know of one from Europe that is there--and I have a possibility of 3 other European friends going there as well.

I guess that for things like this going on is why im not a politician--my opinion might mot be a popular one.

A friend of mine is being called up in the British army. It seems stupid that the US and co are going to attack Iraq while North Korea is obviously the biggest threat by far.

North Korea is definitely more of a threat to world peace than Iraq.

Iraq is nowhere near building any type of nuclear device in the near future. And so far the weapons inspectors haven't found anything despite what the US keeps saying.

Meanwhile North Korea reactivates a nuclear reactor which is capable of creating weapons grade plutonium. And how long will it take for them to build a nuclear device? 30 days. That's all. Yep, they could build a nuclear bomb within a month, and they already have the missiles capable of carrying one to South Korea or Japan.

    So who's the biggest threat??

A middle east oil rich country, controlled by a dictator, which hasn't really had the capability to threaten anyone (accept a few Kurdish rebels) for quite some time, that has been financially ruined by international sanctions, OR, a militaristic communist nation in Asia, that has continually violated and broken international treaties, built large tunnels (capable of taking tanks and trucks) under the Demilitarized Zone between itself and South Korea, mounted repeated armed incursions and spy missions into South Korea, and has no thought for the suffering of it's own people?

Despite being wooed by western nations, North Korea's attitude to South Korea is similar to that between mainland China and Taiwan. They see the South as belonging to the North, and are quite prepared to do ANYTHING to unify the two halves, including another war. Only this time it won't be a "Police Action" it will be full on.

Meanwhile George W. still wants the world to think Iraq is the biggest threat, because he knows the US can take them out without starting World War Three, but if he starts to treat North Korea the same way....well, it's going to get very messy.

I don't have to tell you, this stuff with North Korea really scares me, and it won't surprise me if the first war of the new century is in Asia rather than the Middle East.

But about North Korea, I think that awful imitation of a Stalin-like government should be harassed from the face of the Earth. There cannot being such a backwards regime as Pyong-Yang's. AT least Saddam brought modernity and many good things to his people, but the Communists in Korea just brought famines, repression, ignorance and genocidal violence. Besides, the attitude of the government is the most idiotic I have seen: "If the US provokes us we will declare war on them" even if they have 0 possibilities in a billion to win that war!!!

I would indeed support Bush against the North Koreans...

To be honest, I'd wish everyone would take a step back and take a big breath, North Korea will eventually crumble on it's own....of course you don't go calling a nation part of an "Axis of Evil" and expect them not to become just a little belligerent.

Sitting here anxiously awaiting the next "Tonkin Gulf Incident". :(
