Hey, all -- I have a question about Nursing Branch insignia -- my dad was a private with the 136th Medical (specific info not necessary, here), and among his mementos, I found a single Nursing Branch insignia. I understand that enlisted men wore a single insignia on the left jacket lapel, while officers wore one on each lapel. But, was this particular insignia worn only by the nurse officers? Or were enlisted men allowed to wear it as well?

    Thanks for any help :)

Good question, but I have no idea. I have several books on wartime nurses, but none that directly addresses the wearing of insignia. That one may be hard to find. I wonder if there is a museum somewhere that addresses this.

thanks, Jeff -- I had the bright idea of phoning the local Army recruiting office, but it's Sunday :p

I'm sure that someone from the medical units would know....
