I have an original pre-invasion (Nov 1944) battle map of Iwo Jima that I am thinking about selling. I have yet to find another one anywhere on the internet. Does anyone know if this is a valuable item? Your help is most appreciated.

Is it an offical US or Japanese map? Date of publication? Any classification markings? Troop deployment plans written or printed on map? How about a photo of the map? That would help.

If we tell you what it is worth, will we get a commision when you sell it?

We are not a valuation service, but if you post a picture some may be able to help. Answering the above questions would also help.

I am trying to get pics of it up. It is an original U.S. map dated Nov 1944 from Navy sorties 19 Aug and 1 Sept 1944. It says "Volcano Islands and Special Gunnery Target Map. I have good pics of the details that I will post as soon as I figure out how.

I still can't help with valuation, but a nice object nonetheless. Keep it if it has value to you. Otherwise, take it to a number of reputable dealers to determine the worth.

I agree with Lou and would re-emphasize the word "reputable" when it comes to dealers. Also, make sure they are dealers that specialize in cartography or WW2 items. I apologize if that sounds too obvious.

Keep typing internet search phrases... I think that map is the bomb.
