From the Herald Mail, Hagerstown MD Obituaries: Samuel S. Buhrman, 83 Samuel S. Buhrman, 83 MARCH 7, 1925-JAN. 25, 2009 Samuel S. "Sam" Buhrman, 83, of 21060 Leiters Mill Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at his home. Born March 7, 1925, in Lantz, Md., he was the son of the late Vernon and Nettie K. Toms Buhrman. He was employed as a machinist by Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, for 25 years, retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of Otterbein Church, Waynesboro, Pa. He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 and William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, both of Waynesboro, AMVETS Post 224, Chambersburg, Pa., and The Improved Order of Red Men Conococheague Tribe No. 84, Williamsport. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene H. Hartle Buhrman; two daughters, Linda B. Miller of Leitersburg and Carolyn Brookens of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, Samuel H. Buhrman of Fort Loudon, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by six brothers, G. Earl Buhrman, H. Ralph Buhrman Sr., O. Guy Buhrman, H. Elmer Buhrman Sr., D. William Buhrman and Lloyd C. Buhrman. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. John Mullen will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, with military graveside honors conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein Church, 801 Park St., Waynesboro, PA 17268; or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
