Technically they are not my relatives, I believe, but they are my (get ready for it) mothers cousin's cousins. Several of them are WW2 vets. One was a WWI vet who fought in the Marne. Then his younger brother (an age difference of 23 years!!!) was in WW2, who became the military governor of Korea, after the fall of Japan. He never saw combat however. Also another cousin lead a segregated unit of African American engineers, in the battle of the bulge (they built the floating bridges I am told) and then, towards the end of Okinawa, was shipped to Okinawa and fought for only a short time before the war was over. Also, I found out another one of his cousins was a submariner, who served from 1942 to 1946. I found all this out when yesterday (yes at Thanksgiving . Something that I have known for a while, is that my Grandpa served in the B17's over Europe. But new information I learned yesterday, was that to my disbelief he flew 30 missions. I thought the limit was 23 or something (I am not sure how that worked), and people usually didn't even survive all those. He DID see combat many times. He also, was the navigator for his squadron. He got out of the AAF, as a Lieutenant (I think 1st Lt but I can't be sure). He served in the 8th Air Force. Then finally, my other grandpa did maintenance work on radar machines. EDIT: I forgot to mention this since I learned so much yesterday, but on of the cousins fought in Anzio, that is all I know about his combat record though.
