Yesterday (22/06/04) the final steps were taken in the restoration of the Dresden Frauenkirche, a large cathedral destroyed by Allied bombing in February 1945.

    From the BBC:
As the article notes, the bombing of Dresden was and is controversial. However, I would urge everyone not to enter in to the usual quagmire of military and moral argument that often surrounds Dresden, and instead welcome this restoration as a step in the reconciliation of a Europe that was long and bitterly at war.
