Last night, Gary Mott, Greg Scott and I met at H ters restaurant, for our get-together. Things discussed were mainly about ww2n.com and stuff thats happening over at Wehrmacht, and who has been buying what. Greg's Iron Cross Collection has beared more Iron Crosses--he now has around 60 Iron Crosses, Gary I think had about 12 and I have about that many including a Wiederholungspange 1st class(1957 style)which replaces the 1939 Adler style Spange) and is the Iron Cross 1st or 2nd classes spange for an awarding of that grade of cross in two wars. Later today or tomorrow--Gary is going to post a few pics of our meeting there at H ters. One of the lovely ladies--even wore onf of Gregs Iron Cross 1st classes, as she posed with us to have our pictures taken. A few of these will be posted here--especially in honor of the British Military. (that is for you and your mates Bish) Anyway, these get-togethers are meant for us to show whats new in the collection, and to talk and have fun. A minor important thing is for us to also eat and for them to drink--as I usually only have Iced tea or Iced water. Greg ate some VERY hot-n-spicy Chicken wings, im not sure what Gary ate and I had Curly fries with spicy cheese. We were there about 2 1/2 hrs. Having fun and mixing with the beautiful ladies who work there. Oh and this is especially for Bish: Bish, I told them that they are now famous with the guys in your unit--they were impressed and two of them told me to tell you that they would love to be invited to England to spend time with you and your mates and they blew some kisses for ya.
Why not link the images from the German awards forum. If you don't know how to dso it I can do it for you. Best regards/ Daniel
Thanks Greg and Daniel. Daniel--if you can get the links from Wehrmacht--please do so. neither Greg or I know how to post pics here--yet.
Ok, here's the pictures. The comments are Greg's. Best regards/ Daniel I pondered which forum to put this under. I decided here because it was less about collectors and medals than it was about Beer, hot wings, and of course T&A!! With all of the pretty ladies around we had to take some pictures of them to. Sorry guys I didn't stay on topic and just have pictures of Gary and Carl! Can you find the EK? Oh yea, this is what I'm talking about! Add a little medals with the beer!! Kim was curious about the medals and asked what these were. After a couple of more beers Gary realized he couldn't keep up with me and Kim had to hold him up. Gary thought that was a great trade-off until Carl took over. Carl holding up Gary!
Thank you very much, Charlie! I now can see what was it all about! Some pretty girls and Iron Crosses! I guess Carl nearly dies there of JOY! My question is: why did he shut his eyes at the time of the pictures?
Because I didnt wanna see my double chin. Thank you for posting the pics Daniel Did anyone ever find the Iron Cross 1st Class in that group foto? The Iron Cross Collection shown is part of Gregs collection. If you put Garys and mine together--we still only have half of what Greg has. Currently I have: One 1870 Ek2 Two 1939 Ek2s Two 1939 EK1s Eight 1914 EK2s. One 1957 style EK1 Spanger for the 1914 EK1. Called Wiederholungspange. Gary I think has about 14 Iron Crosses. Greg has about 60 Iron Crosses. Anyonw else here have ant Iron Crosses? I know Martin Bull has one which is maker marked.
Forgot to mention that the poster you see is an original German Army recruiting poster with companion card. Can anyone translate?
No problem Carl! Carl, why the sunburn, don't you now it's supposed to be winter? Currently I have: Zero 1870 Ek2 No 1939 Ek2s Nill 1939 EK1s Zip 1914 EK2s Best regards/ Daniel
Daniel: Actually im 1/2 Norwegian, 1/4th Swedish and 1/4th Cherokee Indian--ive got a permenent sunburn WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NO IRON CROSSES?!?!?!?!?!?!? "we" had best get you started in collecting hadnt we? And all joking aside--if you do want any for a decent price--you better collect soon--the average Iron Cross 2nd class 1939/ is reaching the $100.00 mark depending on who you buy from the average 1914 ek2 is from $55 on up to about $90.00 depending on who you buy through. Its a shame too as there were appx 10 or so million issued--2nd class alone
It's just another get together with the guys that collect military items and who love to discuss history. Topic of the night were... The Battle of the Buldge Orange can be in camo . . planning for battle can cause one to overspend I can't wait till our next meeting! [ 15. March 2003, 02:35 PM: Message edited by: mott5ranch ]
