The Archbishop seems to be out of touch with British law. Under British law it is already perfectly acceptable for two parties involved in a civil law dispute to go to any body they wish to for arbitration on the matter. So it is already legal for Muslims to use a body using sharia law as a guide, for matters involving disputes in Civil law. Silly old fool doesn't know his own laws
Dr Rowan Williams is the biggest liberal to date and this new statement only goes to show he has shot his bolt. The Church of England is a disgrace and will fall due to it's lack of real leadership.
All you have to do is redress the errors of you king Henry the Eighth. But just remember the current Pope-in-Charge is a Kraut!
It's McDonald's responsibility to do something not the council and any how there are other fast food joints. On a personal note I would not touch that muck for all the Tea in China.
You're being gracious calling it muck. It's far less than that. My children think they are deprived because we will not go there to eat. I saw a study where the researchers were looking at how long it takes food to decompose if left alone, unrefridgerated and under a bell jar. Three months later, McD's French fries were indistinguishable from fresh ones. I like what Steve Martin said about McDonald's food. It is all goo in one big vat in the back with a handle on it that they pull and, shplock, out drops a hamburger. Shplock again, out drops fries. Shplock, a milkshake. Shplock, a cardboard box...
This has got to be a joke.... BBC NEWS | England | Cambridgeshire | Airmen told 'no uniforms in city'
Not really a shock, army personnel are advised not to wear uniform in public in the interests of personal security. A while ago a soldier in his no.2's was beaten up in the street and when I travel in uniform it does occaisionally elicit sarcastic/idiotic comments from moronic youths (though the attitude of the public at large varies from uninterested to supportive). I'd be surprised if this is a recent thing, probably simply re-iterating policy from the days of Op Banner.
Well imagine happen if in ww2 you insulted a member of the SS in his uniform around the city, I would never advies that
And there's more... Brown fury over military uniform ban as now students bar Army cadets from university | the Daily Mail
All I can say is this, I suggest they vent there anger and abuse at the government who ordered them out to the Middle East, don't these jerks realize the Arm Forces can not act on there own without orders from the government of the day.
Richard, Gordon, I keep saying this but, when are you all going to move here to the USA or to Canada? We still have plenty of room for you good Gents to live here. ;-))
That kind of thing stopped in the 70's here. Today, the US military actually encourages military members to wear uniform on domestic flights. In fact, they went so far as to ok wearing DCTs on civil flights and encourage this. I personally have been surprised more than once in public places when in uniform by people's reaction. Going into an ACE Hardware one time some guy and his wife walking by said "Hi Chief! We're behind you!" Or, having people buy you a beer. I've even been at diner at a restraunt on more than one occasion when someone comes by and says something supportive. About the only places you wouldn't get that kind of response is in those rare bastions of Leftist stupidity like San Francisco or Berkeley. Even in most of these I'd be willing to bet if some drooling Leftist did say or do something publically insulting to a military member in uniform there would be more than one other person that saw it that would either verbally and or physically take care of business.
