Ok folks, is the original better than the remake? Is the remake a worthy tribute to the original?

Thats a tough one. It was grand to see the Duke in the orginal and a great western for the era. The new one is probably a more realistic vision of the era and closer to the tone of the book. For once a remake that does not make you cringe, but we will get Carl to see it over his cold dead body I am afraid.

I have to say I liked the original much better - there is nothing like a John Wayne western.

But that being said, Jeff Bridges was excellent in the remake.

If you take The Duke, and add in that the little cutie from the 2010 film (the 1969 Mattie was annoying), you'd have the perfect mix.
