Hallo, gentlemen! A week ago I met a WWII veteran. Rarely to find them in this country... Herr Burgeff is 71 years-old. It was very difficult to talk to him, because his trauma is too big. My mother had to translate from French. He does not speak German anymore, he is not German anymore. He hates Germany, seine Vaterland! Herr Burgeff lived in Berlin and was 14 in 1945 when he was recruited for the defence of the city. All his classroom mates and friends were killed. Someones were burnt alive, someones chopped into pieces and other ones were raped by the Soviets... All were aged 11-15... Four of the 38 kids were taken prissoners and sent to the Ukraine, and there to Siberia. Fortunately, Herr Burgeff achieved to scape, reach Rumania, then Yugoslavia and then Italy. He later married a Belgian women and both have lived in Mexico since 1960. I can perfectly understand why he is such a miserable man, with all the things he suffered... I am very sorry for him. Because despite all the sorrow you could feel the only thing you will ever had, the only thing which remains forever, is the thought of your Vaterland. If you betray that, there is nothing left...
Hello General der Infantrie, I assume the above post was for me? I know of the website you mentioned. Mainly because I am one of the person's in the photo's. I am the one wearing glasses. Wm.T.

Thank you for the Veteran from Ostfront post, General! A very important story for people to know about, no matter how sad it is. Who knows, had it not been for you, his story may not have ever been told!
Vielen Dank, Herr Doktor! Mostly all the story is a compilation of his wife's, son's testimonies and very little about him. The rest is just research I made by my own. I am glad you like it.
That was an interesting site. Nice pics with the vets. I bet they got a hoot at the younger generation taking an interest in preserving that era.
Thanks! The vet in the snow cammo suit with the dog is my uncle, who just happened to be in the regement we portray!!!!
