In the jungle an 'OWEN' SMG, or an M1 Carbine.

In the open, a 'GARAND' or a 'BREN'.

It's just all German or Allied weapons isn't it...as if the Soviet Union wasn't there at all.

Speaking realistically, I'd just get what I was issued, which would probably be a TT pistol and a PPSh 41 (if it was 1941), then with the development of the PPSh modification I'd just grab the PPSh-43 along with a kitchen knife or a penknife from home, and go stand for Soviet ground and never surrender.

I would use a Camera....with it, I could take a picture that would influence opinions, leading to further recruitment/desertion. If the picture was good enough and given wide circulation, my contribution to the war effort would far outweigh anything I might have done with something that went bang.....

Okay so I noticed in the question it did not specify "personal firearm" so if I could have wielded any one specific weapon in WWII it would have to be an Essex class US aircraft carrier.

Up until the early 1980s, I have used a M3 Grease gun and .45cal M1911A1 pistol. Once the US Army went to the 9mm, those relics went away.

I would use the Browning M2 50 cal or fg42 but I think the easiest to shot is the m1 carabine!
Nothing would be able to cross the street in front of my balcony :D

Personally, I would wield a 1942 model Smith-Corona typewriter, preferably in a newspaper office in Kansas.

The mp41. A good reliable accurate weapon, with plentiful ammo. For some more range a k98 with iron sights. Oh and a bren.
