Klara Hitler found out that she was pregnant with her 4th, and you knew what it was going to grow up to be. Would you tell her to consider an abortion?

A friend of mine told me that she heard that his mum wanted an abortion, and it just got me to thinking.

I personally say, "no." Hitler wasn't born evil, it was how he was raised. Any good mother in her situation would try even harder to raise him right if she knew what would happen if she didn't.

As neither prostitution nor abortions were illegal in Austria at the time, the only thing holding Klara back was her stauch Catholic upbringing. Plus she had such bad luck carrying a child to term she was certainly not going to abort one.

And it is really nurture not nature in this instance, Adolf wasn't "born an evil warmonger", he chose the path himself.

I totally agree with you, but this question may lead us to another: How have been the Nazis without Hitler?

IMHO: equally aggressive and racist, anti-Semitic but also more efficient.

Nazism is an ideology - Hitler has no influence on how Nazis act. Think of him as Jesus, if you will, is to Catholics. You certainly have more 'devoted' Catholics and less devoted Catholics, but Jesus put them on the map, so to speak. Its the same with Nazis and Nazism - it existed long before Hitler become its leading spokesperson.

Nazism wasn't totally unique in the German state, with or without Hitler a Nationalist movement was probably going to come to the fore in the interwar years.

As British Ambassador Lothian stated in one of his speeches to we Americans in 1940; "…modern National Socialism is the reassertion of the strongest tradition in German and Prussian history, the belief in the all-powerful military state, creating order and discipline at home by ruthless secret police methods at home, and expanding its wealth and power by ruthless conquest abroad."

It may have been "slightly" different flavored (without Hitler), but the overall taste would have been just as repugnant to the "non-Aryan/German".

to save 50 million lives (or whatever the ww2 death toll was)... yes he should have not been born!

No therepy in this world would help a man that evil...

The world would have been much better off.

But eventually someone would take his place.
