Will Smith: 'Hitler Was a Good Person' at Hollywood.com

HOLLYWOOD - Will Smith has stunned the world by declaring that even Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler was essentially a "good" person.

The I Am Legend star, 39, is determined to see the best in people, and is convinced the former German leader did not fully understand the extent of the pain and suffering his actions would cause during his time in power in the 1930s and '40s.

He says, "Even Hitler didn't wake up going, 'Let me do the most evil thing I can do today.'

"I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was 'good.' Stuff like that just needs reprogramming."

and guess what: Will is going to play Hitler in der Untergang II. Did he go nuts or what?
Did he want to provoke or is he stupid?

I hope so, I must say it would really surprise me if he meant what he is supposed to have said.

You can see Will Smith playing Hitler in his own way. "Yo daddy Himmler how's it hanging man." ;)

Well I hope he's got a bunker to hide in if this all blows up in his face.

    the original interview:

Will Smith: My Work Ethic Will Make Me A Legend - The Daily Record

Remarkably, Will believes everyone is basically good.

"Even Hitler didn't wake up going, 'let me do the most evil thing I can do today'," said Will. "I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was 'good'. Stuff like that just needs reprogramming.

I have to say that before making a judgement on Will Smith's comment, I would have to read the entire context and not just that one quote.

I will also add, that I too believe that Hitler truly thought that what he was doing was good thing..... We are afterall talking about the mighty Aryan race...

Bush or Putin? Come on Sturm.

Well, for the sake of the argument... Hitler treated his dogs very well, and he created many laws to protect animals... And didn't he hand-fed his chauffeur during trips (I don't recall any democratic leaders being that humble)? And most of his secretaries repeat page after page how nice and modest man he was? ;-D

Will Smith angry, says comment about Hitler misinterpreted - Yahoo! TV

Over the weekend, dozens of celebrity gossip websites posted articles about the comment, many saying Smith believes Hitler was a "good" person.

"It is an awful and disgusting lie," Smith said in a statement Monday provided by his publicist.

"It speaks to the dangerous power of an ignorant person with a pen. I am incensed and infuriated to have to respond to such ludicrous misinterpretation."

"Adolf Hitler was a vile, heinous vicious killer responsible for one of the greatest acts of evil committed on this planet," read the statement.

Hi Skipper, great one indeed. Heh heh, you never fail to "make my day." ;-))

I like that title as a sequel to the movie with most of the same name.

Got to say I agree with other comments on here, in the context he wasn't a million miles off. It is very easy to portray Hitler as a psychopathic lunatic who did evil for the sake of evil like some sort of Bond villain. What's really scary is to realise that actually he believed that what he was doin was for the best, that he thought he was doing the right thing and that history would vindicate him, now THAT's disturbing.

I'm surprised you fellas are falling for this.
Will has a new movie out.....this is all about publicity, not belief !
How many Hollywood (Hollywierd the locals call it) adages/axioms do you want to hear?

There's no such thing as a sure thing.
If they say it's not about money, it is.
A verbal agreement is not worth the paper it's printed on.
    Good is never good enough.
Anything to stay on camera (reason for short skirts/cleavage)
    Any publicity is good publicity.
