Some info on Blackpools Raf days. The sister site of this one ww2 talk had a request a while back for someone in the balloon unit stationed there. You may wish to ask them over there for info on old postings. The Wartime Memories Project - RAF Initial Training Wing, Blackpool The Wartime Memories Project - RAF Squires Gate / Blackpool
World War 2 Talk Sorry forgot their link. But its a sister site of this one, run by Otto too. But more British and Commonwealth orientated. Might be worth looking there as well for any info if you want some.
Ahh...sorry, I see you have already visited the Blackpool site. I take it that is your Grandfathers story on there?
Thankyou very much for responding to my posting. I'm at a dead end right now. There must be some sort of documentation or record for him. I foundout that it shows him on the Muster roll of 1941 in the Almanac in Brechin, Angus Scotland Library. This is where my Grandfather lived. I will forward it as an attachment. All the best Gail Watson
In followup from my above posting, if I am thinking my Grandfather was an Instructor working for the R.A.F. barrage balloons stationed in Blackpool, he lived in Brechin, Angus Scotland and therefore he had to have been with the Reserve Militia training for this position proir to being an instructor. Does anyone know where I could look for this as there must be a record showing this. Thankyou Gail Watson
