I searched and searched and couldn't find a thread like this so far but...

Have you heard any lovely songs that mention WW2 or the holocaust? I recently heard a lovely song about Anne Frank.

Heard an awesome Sarah Stora song yesterday...about an Aussie who came back from Poissiers (SP?) in France...a place littered with thousands of Australia's finest. It was about his broken life back in Australia...and they find the old digger face up in the local creek with crows sitting on his chest...theres a twist to the end of the story though...The songs called "Pozzie"...his nickname in Australia....Worth hunting down folks.

The Robert Shaw Chorale - Oh Shenandoah. (also called "Across the Wide Missouri") A heartrending Soldier's Lament from the American Civil War.
The very first, the very best Anti-War song ever - and here's the best ever version. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Shaw_Chorale

Not, not not modern BUT... Too good to miss out on. THE penultimate anti-war song. Period.

Bagpipes? Music is still being written for today's UK MOD Pipers.

Celtic Bagpipes have led British Troops into battle for Centuries. You read that right: led, and they continue to lead in front to this day.

I count the MacCrimmon Clan from the Isle of Skye amongst my ancestors.

My cousin Malcolm MacCrimmon was the world champion for many years and is the 9th Hereditary Skye bagpiper.
