"An unexploded German World War II bomb found at a building site in Southampton has been blown up in the Solent.

A 200m (220yd) area was cordoned off and buildings evacuated after the device was found by construction workers in London Road on Thursday.

The 45kg (100lb) bomb, was moved overnight by a team from the Royal Engineers and the cordon was lifted.

A Royal Navy bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion in deep water off the coast at about midday."
