I have scanned as pdfs the After Action Reports of the 180th
Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, for January, February,
and May 1944, which essentially cover the beginning and end of the
Anzio Campaign for the regiment. They are scanned at 200 dpi.

I had copied the documents at the NARA last month.

If anyone desires copies, just let me know.

Dave - I'm researching my father who I believe was in the 180th Infantry. His name was Joe Kamelhar and was from NY City. He fought in Sicily, Anzio, France and Germany. He is no longer living and did not speak much about his experience as an infantryman.

Would you mind forwarding to me the After Action Reports you've scanned. I can be reached at jkamelhar at gmail.com

    Many thanks
    Jon

Hi Jon, welcome to the forum. I am sure Dave will be happy to send you the reports. Do also post up a new thread here about your father, it will get more exposure that way:

    Good luck!

    Hi, Jon.

I now have all of the AARs from July 1943 (Sicily) through the end of the war. All are scanned as pdfs except Sicily's. I'll be glad to send them
    to you.

Do you happen to know which Company he belonged to? I have virtually
all of the Regiment's General Orders as well (JPEGS), and that would help me find his CIB, for instance.

Hey Dave, you realise we can attach .pdf files here, up to just under 10mb a time...

    Nudge nudge ;).
    I like After Action reports.

I tried twice to upload the 7 megabyte pdf of the AAR of the 180th IR for September 1943.

    Both times, the upload failed.

    Hi Dave,

I'm trying to find out information about my father's WWII service. He was in the 180th infantry reg. Company F. I know for sure he fought in the Sicilian campaign and in the battle for Naples-Foggio. Do any of your After Action Reports cover these battles? Can you e-mail them to me? I don't really know what I'm talking about, so excuse me if I'm totally in the wrong place. If you have any other ideas about where I might find information, please let me know. I'm working to get what I can from the VA.

    Thanks,
    Carol

Dave...do you recall any details concerning artillery fires in these documents? I'm researching the details of the actual use of the artillery vs the doctrinal or book version.

    thanks

    Thank you for posting this.
My Grandfather was a butter bar, F company, 2nd battalion 180th.
He was wounded Nov 10, 43 near Vallecuppa and died three days later.
Fco, captured 23 German soldiers that day on the ridge just to the west of Vallecuppa.
Henry Harden Newland is his name, he was promoted to 1st lieutenant on the day of his death.
If you could steer me in the right direction to obtain the after action reports for that time I would be obliged.

Also the morning reports would be a great find for me.

I now have all of the 180th's AARs available as pdfs.

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/45thinfantry/

The November 1943 AAR is unusual because its 24 pages
include four maps and two pages of Casualty Reports. Your
grandfather is not listed in the reports, probably because he
died in a Field or General Hospital.

If you send me your email, I will provide this AAR to you.

Morning Reports are available for a fee from the NPRC, St. Louis.

Hi Dave, thank you for the response and the work you obviously went thru to aquire this collection.
My grandfather's brother told me that he was an MP. I'm an EX army NCO and I'm not sure why an MP was in an Infantry CO.
I have a couple of pictures of LT Harden in uniform if they could be of any use to anyone, let me know.. My E-Mail
    madolive3@yahoo.com Again, thanks....Bill

    Hi Dave,

It's Carol. I tried to contact you, but was having computer issues and don't know if you got my posting. I'm not seeing it. I sent it a couple of days ago. So, here's a second try. I was asking for the AAR for Sicily and Naples-Foggia for the 180th. My dad was in Company F. If you could send them to me that what would be terrific. His name was John F. Micco. I apologize if I'm bothering you twice. Thanks very much for helping me find out about my Dad's WW2 service.

    Hi, Carol,

I can't find your other post. I'll be glad to provide AARs for Sicily thru Dec. 1943. What's your email address?

    Hi Dave,

I just found the site and read your posting. Wow is all I can say! My Dad was a rifleman in Company A of the 180th from January 1945 until the War's end. Could you please send me the After Action Reports for that period? Thank you very much, Don
