I searched back and found - to my horror - that 2003 was the last time I posted this thread. Even more horrific, some of the resolutions remained unresolved.... So, for 2006, we'll keep it simple ; some of this years' 'WWII Resolutions' are : * Devote more time helping with restoration of Mosqito TA122 ( same as resolved 3 years ago ! ) * Another forum member has asked me to do a little research for a book he's working on..... * By hook or by crook I'll be at the Night Fighter signing session first week of March.... * My next 'old airfield' will be the 381st BG's Ridgewell.... Anyone else...?
Happy New Year Martin ! so who will be at the march NF signing ? please tell us......... hmmmmmmm what to say. would love to be able to promise our long lost Book "Moskito-jagd über Deutschland" time will tell I should just go ahead and get my Ju 88G-6 book though... "Im Schatten des Mundes liegen" (Flying in the Shadow of the Moon)
Happy New Year Martin, Erich and everyone else. Only got one resolution...to find, photograph and study even more wartime sites this year!
make sure you get some photos of yourself with Peter and whoever else please.........you've got that new digi toy at your fingertips E ~
Better late than never.. Buy books, books, books and read them...! Trying to concentrate on AGS 1941 battles why they did not make it through like the other Army Groups of Barbarossa, also the Kharkov battles of 1943 spring interest me. And probably more nachtjagd and bombing missions this year .
now that is a keeper Kai,. more books.... volume 1 of David Williams Nachtjäger should be here at weeks end hopefully. first book of the newyear, and I did not purchase more than about 3 books last year, Theo Boitens massive NF diaries is due late this year according to him in a mail last week. not sure where or through whom his present book is is due. Schiffer gave him the shaft so........ ? for you armor buffs Wolfgang Schneider has released his 550 plus photo volume on Tigers of Das Reich and SS heavy panzerabteilung 102/502. Sorry all in German but with detailed maps and all it should be purchased
I would like to hear or read more about the TA 122. Is it being done by the Mosquito group you are in ? That would be neat to have a plane from each side. What state is it in now and how far are they going to try and restore it ? Post some pictures if you are able.
I'm really going to disappoint you, Ta...'TA' in this case is the aircraft serial number ! So I'm afraid it's a boring old Mosquito FBVI, the only one left in Europe.... Actually, one of the Mossie Museum people works all week on a Me262 and Fw 190A being restored at a secret location in East Anglia, but none of us are allowed to see them
well Martin, Peter Spoden just told me he is trying to get his close friend and Ritterkreuz winner Karl Johanssen to be along side with him in the UK an the March meeting. Karl was ace Tino Beckers bordfünker, and Karl was responsible for shooting down 2 Lancs and a 100th group B-17 on March 16/17, 45 with his single MG 131 in their Ju 88G-6 after Martin Becker had run out of ammo, knocking down 6 Lancs. Karl sent me his multi-page account a few years back. A very generous man and quite a guy with many stories to share. you will have quite a bit of fun for certain .......
I was thinking the number was not quite right but I did not have my books in front of me. It was a TA-154 Moskito I was thinking of. Oh well, 2006 is going to be a repeat of 2005 it looks like.
New Year Resolution, To stop posting on Forums. The knowledgeable show me up and the ignorant piss me off!
We need a representive from Australia so don't quit yet!!! Post something about the Australian Air Force during WWII, like who shot the most Japanese planes down during the war. I never hear about them, Just the Americans.
Martin where is this gathering of aces going to be held in March, date please ? I may and try to get my friend Neil Page and a couple of others to attend if they have time off ..... thnak you E ♫
Peter Spoden intends to be here from 3-6 March, and the signing session is to be at the Aces High Gallery, Wendover, Bucks most likely on the Sunday. I'll post more details when I can find them ; it would be nice to meet Neil Page....
