Seeking information on the 473rd as well. My grandfather served and was wounded April 14, 1945. His name is Harold Bremer from Iowa. Left Ft. Leavenworth, KS, January 14, 1943, and came home July 1945. Received a Good Conduct Ribbon, EAME Ribbon, 5 Bronze Service Stars, Combat INF Badge and a Purple Heart which we still have in our possession. Would love to see if anyone knew him or has his name on any of their "relics". Thank you!

Not much help, but I think this is his draft card. Since the 473rd was in existence for only a short time, it would be helpful if you knew his company and prior service.

I actually have that book. It was included in a pack of material my mother sent me several years ago.

    Awesome.

I saw that you had the book from your first post. That's how I did a search for it on line & found the digital copy.

It's great that you have the original copy. It says in the forward of the book that they tried to send each member of the 473rd a copy of it when it was published.

"The mailing list for the distribution of this book was a lengthy one.
Names and addresses were taken from official records. Some of the records
were incomplete at the time. The typing was done by Italians and accuracy
was made impossible by language difficulties.

It is believed, in spite of the above, that most former members of the
Regiment will find a copy at home upon their arrival. Additional copies
    cannot be provided.

ANY FORMER 473RD SOLDIER WHO DIDN'T GET A COPY SHOULD
WRITE BOX 303, DUNELLEN, NEW JERSEY. INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME
AND ADDRESS AND AS LONG AS THEY LAST, ONE WILL BE SENT TO
    YOU WITHIN A SHORT TIME.

    —The EDITORS"

I wanted to post the link to the digital version so others that din't have the book could read and research it if they wanted to.

This site below also contains a lot of scanned books, films, etc on WWII.

Hello, My grandfather was also in the 473 infantry. I do know he was in Africa and Italy but do not know much else other than he was a truck driver. His name was Victor Burchard. We also have his uniform.

I know this is an old post but does anyone here have any info on a CPL Williams D Williams of Pennsylvania? I know he was killed in action but I can't find any other info other than that. The story I've been told was he was killed by a sniper as the war was ending. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it!

The only information that I found in the book was he is mentioned as one of the soldiers of the 473 Infantry killed in action.
CPL. WILLIAM D. WILLIAMS, 145 St. Thomas St., Gallitzon, Pa.

No other info found. You may try searching Newspapers.com.
