Angela Merkel has said that multiculturalism is a complete failure. Look at the troubles France, England and Germany are having with cultures not checking their dirty laundry at the door we open.... I did some work for a place of worship in Edmonton where the entry walls were adorned with dead pictures of soldiers. Another place had a riot because one faction insisted there could be no tables/chairs in a certain area. A young lady confided in me at another, that she was terrified of her family because she had dated someone her family didn't like. Some do not want to melt into our pot. Our founders never fought for this .What to do? Could we ever have Splendid Isolation again?

That may be a matter of how you define it and politics. Clearly there were periods thorough out the Islamic world where fundamentalist gained control of the government or tried to.
I would point to the Mahdi as an example prior to the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottmans did indeed tend to be pragmatic in many cases but there were some rather serious incidents even under thier rule (ask the Armeinians).
    I'm in complete agreement.

The muslim Spain suffered the succesion of the fanatic Almoravids, Almohads, Benemerins ...This way the history of the muslims looks like a continuous succesion of loops.

Guys, if you want to discuss current politics, create a thread in The Stump. I really don't want to move this thread there.

I read somewhere that Adolf liked about the Muslim religion and their respect for the warrior or something. Apparently he didn't learned that after his first military victory "the prophet" ordered the extermination of the Jewish tribe Banu Qurayza.

    Is this on topic?:)
