    Overall - positive but slow (and with problems). The general consensus is that 'life was better before the Soviets invaded' :p

    And I wouldn't take the BBC's word that day was light and night was dark.

    i think rickys being a little tongue in cheek here ..this article is not anti bush blair ..its just in interview with ordinary people who if anything seem mostly positive about the new govt...

    Compared to the Taliban? Yeah, I'd consider the new government a definite improvement compared to them, if I were an Afghan.

    That shows how insular the BBC have become -- not a mention of it on their web site.

    I dont know if "congratulations" is the right word, but well done Cpl Apiata!

    Why not congratulations? This man definitely earned the VC, not to mention the fact that it wasn't posthumous. I say congratulations to Corporal Apiata on both counts!!! And like so many true heroes, he is modest about what he did.
