Give it a rest, Victor. The only thing it makes fun of is CNN.

Well, I have thought it over and decided to apologize for being the cold blanket on this version of humor and am reconsidering my positions concerning my membership here on this forum. I guess I am just a bit of a weirdo.....I have some pretty lofty ideals about how a forum should be, respecting all the possible diverse groups that sacrificed so much in all of our wars. I do feel we can have humor without using any groups as the fodder for those expressions.....in fact I support using humor to overcome what is often too overwhelming to deal with. I am quite obsessed with what veterans have done from my own state that goes beyond any humor with their levels of suffering and am also constantly aware of what holocaust survivors have gone through and it is just serious and solemn to me. So I have enjoyed so many here that are serious and sensitive about their respect for the veterans and will be saying good bye to you and wishing all of you well. I do no longer wish to be a part of the forum, I have experienced that it only takes a few to spoil enjoyment anywhere you may choose to be .....even if it is on a forum. I have brought the things up I wanted too and take satisfaction in that but I also have some pending activities in remembrance of others I will put more time into. There have in fact been issues in the past on several occasions and it is only likely if I were to stay there would be more issues into the future. I do not hold grudges and respect views that differ from mine but I do have boundaries for myself that I choose to maintain to keep myself in check as I am often in need of improvement as much as anyone else. I wish the forum well.....it certainly doesn't need me to succeed, it will reflect what makes it up in the long run so you may paint the picture into the future as you wish to do so. I gave it a try, I am not comfortable, so I will give it up and find other venues to contribute to. Soon I will do the things I need to to remove my name.

Victor...We all respect the sacrifice of those from ww2 both military and civilian and of other wars...or we would not be here.

To resign your membership on a point of order not related to ww2 seems a shame.

The last post, no pun intended that may have preverbally broke the camels back for you seems to be the Fake CNN one although you have issues with others in other threads...We all have issues with threads and other members on occasions..Humour cannot be the reason for this...Servicemen around the world depend on humour to get them through lousy times..As said about British forces...By a famous General...I only get worried when they stop laughing...Ireverant humour is wrong on any occasion...However you cannot use the post in question on this thread as a prime example...The poster was going along with the gist of the thread.
WW2 was not funny...No wars are funny...But this forum is a bundle of different folk, with different attitudes, humour, and politics..We still try to get along...and in the main do. We can all feel slighted at times...If you go I for one will miss you..And I respect your decision. However, no one can be made to feel guilty about this mate. We all have our own thoughts on matters, and in the main on here they are accepted...As long as no one steps over the legal line or the owners and admins, mods, rules then we can all fit in here.

If it's any consolation, I offer my sincere apologies for posting that image. It was not my intent to offend, but I still feel badly for having done so.

VG, don't go. Have always enjoyed reading your bits. Sorry if I offended you...Sometimes the humour misses its' mark, or has unintended consequences... I try not to take too much offense on how some peers here see me as a red neck/beer swilling/ baseball cap-t shirt wearing dummy....buuuuurrrrp....Water off a ducks back....Take a licking, then keep on ticking, eh. Cheers man.

To Victor, I hope you do stay. One of the reason this site is such a good site is the diversity of membership. There will always be those posts that 'rub someone the wrong way' but that's life. I read once again something (that burns my arse) that the state of Washington has done; no longer will the term "Penmanship" be used. Instead it will now be addressed as Hand Writing. I don't agree with the bill but what ya' going to do. If we continue on the road of the Political Correct agenda I'm afraid we'll reach a destination leaving us more lost than found. I might add that "Politically Correct" has got to be the best oxymoron of all time!
We are heading into the abyss my friend with the 'new normal' soon to lead us to fear of speaking at all lest we offend anyone. I can understand your take on the post but would hope you could also see it as an innocent jab at CNN. It is sometimes difficult to not see the humor because we look too hard at that part that 'appears' against our moral thought. We're all Human Beings here, well almost all of us are, and I'm confident if we look at the intent, nothing was meant as derogatory towards overweight Women of Hispanic descendent. If the three people depicted in the photo had been Blue-eyed Blond Bikini models from Sweden the message would have been the same. Actually, I think if it Had been of Blue-eyed Blond bikini models the 'joke' would have been better.
I know I've set off a few here with occasional comments of mine, been put off by a few comments from others, but together - if we continue to interact - we can find a middle ground and might just find we're more alike than most of us would like to admit.
A last thought, you add much to the many discussions and your interpretations lead many of us to rethink our own thoughts. Just a thought.

I will echo those that say you should stay, Victor. I try to stay away from these threads myself. I almost left the forum soon after I joined because my political views were at odds with most of the posters. However, when it came to WW2, most of the posters had no equal. To be sure, your posts are usually well thought out and contribute a lot to the discussions. If KB had posted that the photo was from The Onion, most of this could have been avoided, but in light of his apology I hope you find it in your heart to accept it and stay.

Thank you all for the love...and encouragement, but I still have some other things I must put my time into....I don't rule out rejoining at some time in the future but other things may occupy too much time. Good bye and good luck to all!

Ridiculous...the world's gone mad...But we've always had the what I'd call fanzone of these incidents...Just as in the UK...when a particularly henious crime has come along..the perpetrators taken to court..for first hearings...and the crowd of onlookers, going crazy chasing police van and shouting screaming and throwing things..as if the folk inside can be got to....And none of them ever have anything to do with the families or whatever involved in the crimes..

On that point..its one thing to thank the protectors...when things are over...and there lies another can of worms...its quite another to stand waving flags and shouting USA USA...I use USA as the example as it is in this thread...it happens in other countries....It makes me think...does that crowd include the same thinking folk that hound the others like this poor lad...We have not caught on over here to the shouting bit when its over yet...Thank God...I couldn't imagine crowds of onlookiers waving union jack and shouting England England..Or Great Britain Great Britain when the police have done their job. However we do have the vehicle chasers...Each to their own loonies I suppose.

Thats just not right....Orf.....Doing Welsh things is one thing...but orf....I see what you've done there....I'm impressed...Took my perceived get at the yanks bit and turn it on the Brits..one in particular....This is dangerous....If the Yanks start learning Irony and Sacrasm..then my work here is nearly done....Oh bugger...
